How to measure an influencer campaign
FluenceHire team ·
Measure influencer campaigns on what you paid for: reach (views), action (clicks) and outcomes (conversions), then divide spend by each to get cost per 1,000 views and cost per conversion. Use a unique promo code or tracked link per creator, ask for screenshots of platform insights, and never treat likes alone as proof of sales.
- Cost per 1,000 views
- Spend ÷ views × 1,000
- Cost per conversion
- Spend ÷ conversions
- Best attribution
- Unique code or tracked link per creator
- Not proof of sales
- Likes and comments alone
Decide what you're measuring first
Match the metric to the goal in your brief:
- Awareness: views and reach
- Consideration: clicks, profile visits, saves
- Sales or sign-ups: conversions, attributed with a code or link
The two numbers that matter
Cost per 1,000 views (CPM) = spend ÷ views × 1,000. Use it to compare creators and against your paid ads.
Cost per conversion (CPA) = spend ÷ conversions. Use it when the goal is sales or sign-ups.
Only divide spend by results that were actually reported. If two of five creators reported conversions, use only those two creators' spend.
Worked example
Say you spend AED 5,600 across four creators and they report 140,000 views in total. Your cost per 1,000 views is AED 40. If two of them, costing AED 2,800, drive 70 orders with their codes, your cost per conversion is AED 40.
How to attribute conversions
- Unique promo codes per creator: simple and works offline too
- Tracked links (UTM parameters) per creator: shows visits and purchases in your analytics
- Your own analytics or booking system: best for sign-ups and bookings
- Platform insights screenshots: for views and reach, ask for the creator's insights, not just the public count
Label each figure with where it came from. Your own analytics beats creator-reported numbers.
What doesn't prove sales
Likes, comments and follower growth show attention, not purchases. Use them to judge content quality, not return on spend.
How FluenceHire reports results
After a post goes live, the creator and the brand can both add results with evidence and the attribution method. Brand-reported figures take priority. The dashboard shows spend, cost per 1,000 views and cost per conversion for each campaign and across all of them, counting only deals that reported each figure.
